“Likes” on the social media platform X are private for all users as of Wednesday. X’s engineering team announced the decision Tuesday, saying that the move was meant “to better protect” users’ privacy.  While users can see the posts they have liked, others will not, the team said. Like count and other metrics for users’ own posts on X, which was previously known as Twitter, will still show up under notifications, and a post’s author can see who liked the post.
August 22, 2014 10:37 AM EDT Remember Jonathan Lipnicki? Sure you do. He was that adorable, bespectacled little boy who famously informed us in Jerry Maguire that the human head weighs eight pounds. Well, Lipnicki grew into an adult — you know, as children are wont to do. He’s remained pretty under the radar since his acting heyday in the 90s and early 2000s, though he did get some attention back in 2011 when photos of his chiseled physique began circulating around the web.
When HBO announced plans to revive the ur-lawyer show Perry Mason, it sounded like a joke. Name recognition aside, was there even a point in reanimating author Erle Stanley Gardner’s canonically nondescript Mason—a brilliant defense attorney with no backstory and few qualities outside the courtroom?
However, as adorable as those little hands are, there's a common question among parents: Why do babies' hands sometimes carry a peculiar scent? Why do baby hands smell bad? Clenched fists ADVERTISEMENT Newborns, especially, tend to keep their hands in a tight, clenched fist for extended periods. This position limits air circulation and traps moisture, drool, milk, and even dust within the closed fists, creating a moist environment that can lead to an undesirable smell.
Any American who has ever procreated knows what a racket the baby industry is. And that’s not a sippy cup half-empty viewpoint — according to a 2013 study by consumer market research company Packaged Facts, between food and supplies for little ones, U.S. consumers are buying $11.5 billion in baby goods annually. And doused in pink and blue, most of these items are useless once their offspring is pulling on big-kid underwear.

Alan Alda has discovered what’s unique about acting. “There’s a kind of ecstasy in it,” the 83-year-old actor described to Variety. The SAG Life Achievement honoree has devoted his life to acting, or simply, “connecting with other people” as he describes it.
AMC Networks has acquired the rights to Anne Rice‘s best-selling book series “The Vampire Chronicles” and “The Lives of the Mayfair Witches,” Variety has learned exclusively. AMC now holds the comprehensive rights for the much sought-after intellectual property and will develop film and television projects for its own television networks and streaming services under the AMC Studios umbrella as well as external partner licensing.
September 21, 2016 1:33 PM EDT In case anyone needed an extra incentive to vote in this fall’s presidential election, Avengers director Joss Whedon has enlisted a bevy of celebrities and the possibility of a Mark Ruffalo nude scene to urge people to vote. In a video campaign for his PAC titled “Save the Day,” A-list celebrities such as Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore rub shoulders with small screen stars like Matt McGorry, Jesse Williams and Neil Patrick Harris to encourage Americans to vote this November.
