In clinical trials, the Liftware spoons reduced shaking of the spoon bowl by an average of 76 percent. Google spokesperson, Katelin Jabbari said: "We want to help people in their daily lives today and hopefully increase understanding of disease in the long run. Other adaptive devices have been developed to help people with tremors — rocker knives, weighted utensils, pen grips. But until now, experts say, technology has not been used in this way.
The 10 Biggest Fashion Moments of 2022
2024-08-11
If fashion is an expression of the times we live in, this year’s biggest moments told the story of a tumultuous world. The war in Ukraine, rising anti-Semitism, and the exploitation of children all found their way into fashion news, editorials, and business in 2022. Of course, there were moments of empowerment and levity, too: Rihanna redefined maternity wear with bold, celebratory looks; Julia Fox became an avant garde fashion star; and ’90s supermodel Linda Evangelista made a triumphant return to the runway.
With its acid-tongued wit and blunt physical comedy, Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Favourite is anything but a typical stuffy period drama. The acerbic Oscar contender depicts the bitter rivalry between Abigail Masham (Emma Stone) and Sarah Churchill (Rachel Weisz) as they compete to influence an increasingly unhinged Queen Anne (Olivia Colman) during her early 18th-century rule.
While based on real historical events, the film certainly indulges in the sensational. As TIME’s film critic Stephanie Zacharek puts it in her review, “this period drama or comedy, depending on your mood, is sort-of based on fact, gorgeous to look at, and features a trio of marvelous performances.

Four decades after The Muppet Show made stars of a musically inclined frog and a narcissistic pig—and nearly 20 years after a revival failed to gain significant traction—the puppets return to primetime on Sept. 22. The new ABC show The Muppets will be documentary-style, a la The Office, following the cast of characters in their personal and professional pursuits. In preparation for their television comeback, see how well you know Jim Henson’s brood.
When the Iran-Iraq war broke out in 1980, director Sepideh Farsi was a high school student in Iran. At age 16, she was incarcerated for being an anti-Islamic Republic activist. Farsi stayed in her country until 1984 and then moved to France, where she experienced the second half of the conflict.
In her first animated feature, “The Siren” — which opens Berlin’s Panorama section — the Paris-based director revisits this war through the story of a 14-year-old boy named Omid, who decides to brave the Iraqi siege of Abadan, the capital of the Iranian oil industry.
The South: Man in the Middle

In Bogalusa, La., a paper-mill town of 23,000 near the Mississippi border, gun-toting white and Negro toughs seemed ready to throw themselves into pitched battle against each other. That they had not actually begun open warfare was almost entirely because of the efforts of Louisiana’s Democratic Governor John McKeithen—and, as so often happens to the peacemaker, McKeithen himself was under fire from both sides.
In an act that required considerable courage for a Southern Governor, McKeithen flew to Bogalusa to plead with Negro leaders for a 30-day cooling-off period.
It’s a deadly time to be a teenager. The most recent CDC Youth Risk Behavior Survey reports that in 2021, more than one-fifth of high schoolers seriously considered committing suicide. Worse, 10% tried. Even without pandemic data, rates of youth depression almost doubled over the past decade, making youth mental health a current top priority for the U.S. Surgeon General.
There are already people on the front lines to combat this teen mental health crisis: school nurses, the trusted healthcare professionals who provide holistic care for every student’s physical and mental wellbeing.
Warning: This post contains spoilers for the finale of True Detective: Night Country.
By the end of True Detective: Night Country, the season's biggest mysteries have mostly been solved. But the show takes a whole lot of twists, turns, and (somewhat ambiguous) reveals to get to that point. After a harrowing penultimate episode that saw Danvers (Jodie Foster), Navarro (Kali Reis), and Prior (Finn Bennett) back themselves into a do-or-die corner for getting to the bottom of the interconnected Annie K (Nivi Pederson) and Tsalal cases, the finale delivers what Bennett has described as an emotional punch.
